The course fee includes all tuition and use of tools. There will be a small extra charge for the pre prepared materials which will depend on what size of basket you choose to make. Please bring your own secateurs and your own lunch. We will supply tea and coffee.

Make a Hedgerow Basket Course

Course description

This is a beginners basket making course and no experience is necessary. The techniques used are relatively simple but great colours and textures can be achieved using hedgerow materials along with traditional willow. During the day you will create a basket of your own to take home.

Willow sculptor Jess Wilkinson is our tutor for the day and she will teach and demonstrate how to make a rustic basket. We will collect weaving materials from the woods and rides as well as using pre-prepared materials. Jess will explain how to choose the best stems for weaving, when the best time is to cut them and how to store them and prepare them for use.

If you want to bring material from home to incorporate into your basket please feel free. We will let you know if it is suitable.

The course is run in an open sided barn in our 18 acre wood. Please wear appropriate clothing and robust footwear. You may want to bring gloves.
