Forge a knife and fork! £170.00 per person
For Course dates >>> (click here)
On this course we will cover some basic blacksmithing techniques but on a small scale, (no need to worry about huge sledge hammers and half ton bars of steel) the hammers, tongs and anvil are more akin to silversmithing but very much about forging metal hot, in its plastic state, the magic of forging.
Your tutor Mark Constable will be lead through the basics of making both an eating knife and fork, he will show you various examples, styles and decorative finishes so that you can design and make a truly unique eating set.
The course is about finesse and refinement at the anvil, a hammer finish rather than a machine polish. It is all about hand tools, no electricity, a relaxed and leisurely pace, time to enjoy the experience, the company and the surroundings, making items you will then use at the camp meal table.
All of this helps impart memories into your finished knife and fork and giving them that extra special value.
The course will run from 6.00pm on Friday night until about 3.30pm on Sunday, all food is provided and special diets can be catered for if we are notified in advance. The course is woodland based and you can sleep in one of our tipis or bring you own tent. If camping is not for you then there is a range of good local accomodation available at extra cost (see links page for details).
Max 8 places per course.
