Introduction to Bushcraft Weekend Course
Course description
This course will give you an insight into the skills and techniques of Bushcraft. No previous experience is needed for this course as it is designed specifically for the novice bushcrafter.
We will concentrate on skills that provide us with the essentials of water, shelter, warmth and food. Firelighting is one of the most satisfying skills to learn and we will look at different methods including 'flint and steel' and fire by friction. There are many different types of shelter to match a range of situations and conditions, you will learn about some natural shelters and have a go at building one.
Over the weekend we will forage for wild foods through the woods and learn to deal with seasonal wild game and cook it on an open fire. There will be sessions on knife skills, knife safety and cutting techniques which you will go on to use to produce a figure four trap. Water is the last of the essentials and you will be taught how to source and collect water and purify it to make it safe.
This course will change the way you look at the natural world and will allow you to begin to see the potential for not just surviving in the wilderness, but living comfortably using natures many resources and your new found knowledge.
